Kettle corn is a special treat that many people only enjoy once or twice a year when they visit the fair. If you like the sweet and salty popcorn treat you may want to try making it at home. Homemade kettle corn popcorn tastes just as delicious, and you can make it in minutes.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • One bag microwavable popcorn (8 cups)
  • 2 Tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 Tbsp water
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar or unrefined cane sugar
  • large pot
  • mixing spoon
  1. Step 1

Pop a bag of microwavable popcorn. Use whatever type of popcorn you have on hand, whether it is plain, butter-flavored, or low-fat. You can also pop your own popcorn kernels in a pot with corn oil if you prefer.

  2. Step 2

Choose a large pot that will accommodate 8 cups of popped popcorn, which is the amount that should result from a bag of microwavable popcorn.

  3. Step 3

Add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil, 2 tablespoons of water, and 2/3 cups brown sugar or unrefined cane sugar to the pot.

  4. Step 4

Heat the oil, water, and sugar mixture until it comes to a boil. This should only take a minute or two.

  5. Step 5

Remove the pot from the heat and add the popcorn to the sugar mixture. Stir the popcorn continuously until it is all coated evenly. If you used plain popcorn or popped your own popcorn, you will also want to sprinkle some salt on the popcorn as you mix it.

  6. Step 6

Let your homemade kettle corn popcorn cool for a couple of minutes and enjoy!
