Things You'll Need:
- embossing heat gun
- embossing powders in color of choice
- rubber stamp
- erasable ink pens or embossing markers
- cardboard with ends slit at the corners and folded each side folded inward 1/2 "
- card to be embossed
- small brush
-
Step 1
You will need to purchase an embossing heat gun, embossing ink pad and embossing powders. Things to have on hand include greeting card blanks or card stock, rubber stamps, and a small paintbrush. Gather up your materials and work on a surface that is not affected by heat. Cut a piece of cardboard and slit each corner at an angle. Fold each side inward to make a kind of tray. This will be where you will apply and catch the excess embossing powder.
-
Step 2
Choose a rubber stamp that you would like to emboss. Pat the rubber stamp onto the embossing stamp pad with an even pressure and then lift straight up.
-
Step 3
Immediately press the stamp on the card blank to be embossed. Do not rock the stamp but use an even pressure and lift up quickly.
-
Step 4
Sprinkle the embossing powder liberally onto the design you just stamped. Lift the card and tap off the excess powder into the tray. Use the tray at an angle to return the extra powder back into its jar. The design should be covered with the embossing powder. Use a small paintbrush to brush away any powder on areas other than the design, being careful not to disturb the powder on the stamped area itself.
-
Step 5
Hold the heat gun about two inches above the design and with a back and forth motion, melt the embossing powder onto the card.
-
Step 6
completed embossed imageIf you would like to personalize your card with words in your own handwriting this can be easily done with embossing markers or a regular old erasable ink pen. If using a regular ink pen it must be an erasable one and it will say it on the pen. Write the sentiment you desire and apply the embossing powder as before. Tap off the excess. Melt onto the card with the heat gun. Repeat these steps as desired. Embossing is fun and addictive… you just can’t get enough!
