Women in the roaring 20s started to become more socially independent. This period brought new trends in women fashions; sexy clothes, short skirts, large accessories, very short hair cuts and new bold makeup styles. Today, women often like to get the flapper 1920s look for special occasions or just to look a bit more glamorous. These are some tips on buying your basic 1920s makeup.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The 1920s makeup style was all about the eyes. Eye makeup was heavily accentuated. To get the 1920s makeup look, start by shopping for dark eye shadows in blue, green or gray colors. For the lashes, get heavy dark mascara; this was used with fake long eye lashes. Mascara was not limited to black; colors like dark green and blue were popular.

  2. Step 2

For your face 1920s makeup look, use a foundation in powder form with a blush. Foundation today is worn in pale natural colors; however for a 1920s look get your foundation in bright colors. Use a foundation similar to the blushes that we wear today.

  3. Step 3

Lips in the 1920s were made up in bright red lipstick; this was the color of the period for lips makeup. Buy a lipstick from any brand of cosmetics in bright red in the creamy or glossy texture.

  4. Step 4

For a fuller 1920s makeup look, buy fake long and thin finger nails. Nails were worn very long and painted in the middle. During this period the nail polish colors were also very bright.

  5. Step 5

If you only need the 1920s makeup look for a special occasion, visit one of the major department stores. Some of the popular makeup counters at these store offer free makeup application. Just ask a makeup artist for the 1920s style.
