How to Clean Shell Necklaces

Shell necklaces never seem to go out of style. They look good with just about any ensemble for either gender. Shell necklaces can accumulate dirt and grime from day-to-day wear. Perfumes, colognes and body sprays can also leave a film or residue on your shell necklace. Cleaning a shell necklace is easy to do and well worth it, to prevent the necklace from accumulating germs and keep it looking new.

Things You'll Need

• Bowl Bleach Gloves Toothbrush Clean cloth

Instructions

1. Pour a cup of bleach and a cup of water into a bowl.

2. Place the necklace in the bowl, making sure that it is completely submerged. Allow the necklace to soak for at least 5 minutes.

3. Use a toothbrush to clean between the shells. Any residual dirt and debris should come off easily now.

4. Rinse the necklace in the sink under running water.

5. Pat the necklace dry with a clean, dry cloth and set it aside to air dry completely.

• Harsh chemicals and abrasives may damage the shells. Wear gloves when working with bleach.
