How to Use PanOxyl

PanOxyl is a type of over the counter brand of medication used to treat acne breakouts. PanOxyl contains 10 percent benzoyl peroxide, the active ingredient used to cure acne. It is made by Stiefel Labs and is available at numerous pharmacies and retailers as a facial wash or gel.

Instructions

1. Wet your face with warm water. Take a small amount of the PanOxyl facial cleanser and start to build up lather in your hands. The facial cleanser comes in both regular strength and maximum strength formulas. The maximum strength is more appropriate for severe acne breakouts.

2. Wash the acne affected areas of your face for at least two minutes. Work the lather over your skin by gently massaging the face. After a couple of minutes, you can rinse the PanOxyl from your skin and dry off with a clean towel.

3. Continue to use the PanOxyl facial cleanser once a day for the first week of treatment. Since the product contains benzoyl peroxide, it can cause irritation and excessive skin dryness. After a week, you can increase usage to twice a day. Most consumers will wash their face once in the morning and once at night. If you start to feel irritation after using the PanOxyl twice a day, reduce treatment back to once a day.

4. Try out the PanOxyl gel if you want more of a spot treatment. The facial wash is typically better suited for treatment for the entire facial area. With the gel, you will apply the PanOxyl directly to the affected areas once a day in a thin layer. You will not wash the gel off of the face.
