Draw Tears in Photoshop

Teardrops are made up of a small number of lines that are very symmetrical and easy to draw. While real teardrops flow randomly over the texture of the face, cartoon teardrops can be drawn very stylistically with bright and attractive colors using Photoshop.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Graphics Program
  1. Step 1

Draw a line that travels downwards and to the right. Have this line curve downwards and to the right.

  2. Step 2

Continue drawing the line you have started by having the line curve towards the right as the line travels downwards. Have this line curve and travel suddenly in the opposite direction.

  3. Step 3

Draw the exact same line with this line traveling the opposite direction. Have the line curve outwards to the left as it travels upwards. Then have this line curve downwards and to the right while traveling upwards to the point where you started when drawing the first line.

  4. Step 4

Set your brush on multiply. Choose a blue color to color the tear with.

  5. Step 5

Use the selection tool to select the teardrop. Right click and copy the selected teardrop. Open another file and paste the teardrop underneath the character's face on a layer over the face. Use the eraser tool to erase any white pixels surrounding the teardrop.

Tips & Warnings
  • Experiment with different colors when drawing tears.
  • Save your work often.
