How to Remove a Honda Motorcycle Seat

To access most internal parts on any Honda motorcycle, the seat must be removed. So, it is important that you can accomplish this task easily and quickly. The process is quite simple, and requires only basic, easily obtainable household tools.
Step 1
Pull the motorcycle to an open, easily accessible location and lean it against a sturdy surface, or prop it up with a center stand. Make sure that the motorcycle is very secure, and that it will not tip over. Chances are, you will have to torque a bolt or two, and you don't want to dislodge the bike and cause it to fall over.
Step 2
Use a socket wrench to remove the securing bolts on the rear of both sides of the seat. Be careful not to strip these bolts, as you will have to reuse them often to remove and secure the seat.
Step 3
Gently pull the plastic side-panels on the bike apart. Do not pull them very far, as it may cause the panels to bend and whiten, or even break.
Step 4
Slide the seat backwards toward the rear fender, while still holding the panels away from each other. This will allow the front tab on the seat to slide out from its securing latch.
Step 5
Pull the seat the rest of the way off and set it aside.
Tips
- It may be helpful to have another person hold the side panels apart as you pull the seat out if the motorcycle's seat has a tight fit.
