A swing jacket is a golf teaching tool intended to develop proper swinging motions by restricting the golfer's movements to the proper plane and angles. The swing jacket is fastened around the chest and arms and moves as the golfer swings to adjust and to guide his position.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • swing jacket
  1. Step 1

Fasten the swing jacket around your chest. Three snaps on the chest secure the body of the jacket in place.

  2. Step 2

Strap the cuffs of the swing jacket onto your upper arms, holding your arms in a comfortable position at your side. Make sure the straps are tight enough to hold your arms securely but do not restrict your blood flow.

  3. Step 3

Practice swinging a golf club while wearing the swing jacket. Do not work against the swing jacket. Let it guide your movements as you go through your golf swing.

  4. Step 4

Keep your upper arms close to your body. The swing jacket is designed to encourage a tight elbow tuck. The cuffs will slide along their tracks on the body of the jacket but should not be pulled outward.

  5. Step 5

While wearing the swing jacket, hit some golf balls after you have taken enough practice swings to feel comfortable with the adjusted motion. Use your normal grip and stance. Try to get into a rhythm when hitting with the swing jacket, so that when you take off the jacket, the motion still feels natural.
