How to Get Faster uTorrent Downloads

UTorrent is a popular Bit Torrent program. These programs are used for downloading files off the internet from multiple people at the same time. Instead of one user giving a file to another user, a torrent site allows many different users to give different pieces of the same files to other users, all at the same time. This makes download speeds for torrent files often faster than other file sharing options. But there are ways to make a program such as uTorrent go even faster.

Instructions

1. Go to your uTorrent program after you've begun a torrent download. Click on the "Options" menu and then select "Preferences."

2. Click on "Bandwidth" and look at the Global Download Rate Limiting section. Make sure the box in that section has a "0" in it, as this means that you have no download limits that could be slowing down your download speed.

3. Try to only download one torrent at a time, as downloading more than one could slow the rate for each.

4. Right click on one of torrents that is currently downloading.

5. Go to "Bandwidth Allocation" and select "High" from the options of "High," "Normal" and "Low."

Tips & Warnings

• The type of internet connection you have will limit the highest speed you can hope to achieve on a uTorrent download.

• Make sure your firewall isn't blocking uTorrent: to check to see if it's been added to safe programs, go to your "Windows Firewall" settings which will be in the control panel off the Start menu in windows.
