How to Upload Flash Movies

Flash is a program that allows users to design animations and movies for the web. Flash movies are saved as .swf files and embedded inside a web page. With a free web browser plug-in called, Flash Player, most visitors to a website will be able to view the movie. Because Flash movies are designed to be placed on the web, the creators of Flash have made it easy to upload moves to your website. This tutorial will teach you how to upload Flash movies to a website using the publish feature in Adobe Flash CS3.

      Open your Flash movie. Select "File Publish Setting..." In the "Formats" tab, make sure that "Flash" and "HTML" types are selected. Click on the folder icon next to the "File Name" dialog box for the Flash type. Choose the destination for your Flash movie. Repeat this step for the remaining formats selected.

      Click on the respective tabs and edit the movie settings. Press "Publish." This will create a .swf file, JavaScript (.js) file, and HTML file.

      Open the HTML file in a web editor, such as Dreamweaver, or text editor. Select the code from <head to </body>. Copy the code and paste it into the HTML for your web page where you want your Flash movie.

      Use an FTP client such as Filezilla to upload the HTML code, JavaScript file, and .swf file to your web page. Make sure HTML code still reflects the location of these files. Note that if you placed any of the files inside different folders, you may need to change HTML code and upload it again.
