The beginning of your search is determined by the location of where your GED was originally administered. While many receive their GED through civilian testing sites like colleges, schools, and adult community education centers: military, oversees, and correctional facility programs also aide individuals in obtaining a GED. Nonetheless, there is an effective way to get a copy of your GED transcripts. Follow these steps and you should be on your way to retrieving your transcripts in no time.

  1. Step 1

    Contact your local testing center – If you need assistance obtaining the contact information of your local testing site visit www. ACENET.com. The ACE (American Council of Education) has a “Testing Center Locator” which provides the name, address, and phone numbers of testing sites in your area. Simply enter your zip code and instantly connect with your original testing site. Call or write a written request for a copy of your GED transcripts. A Research Processing Fee may apply.

  2. Step 2

    Contact the ACE – In the event that you received your GED through a military, oversees, or correctional facility program contact the American Council of Education by visiting their website, which is listed above. In their site search engine type “GED Transcript” and click on “Transcript Request Form.” Complete the form and print this application from your web browser and mail it to the address provided. A fee of $14.00 is required.

  3. Step 3

    Contact your State’s Department of Education – In the event that all else fails, contact your State’s “General Education Developmental Testing Office.” Most of these facilities require written requests, while some facilities have developed “GED Walk-Up Windows.”

Tips & Warnings
  • A duplicate diploma will not be issued until two (2) months after the issue date of the original diploma.
  • Be aware of scam artists and websites that are not affiliated with your State’s Department of Education.
