Step 1
Talk to your deaf dog just as though he can hear. He will get used to your facial expressions and will understand what you mean by how you look when you say it.
-
Step 2
When it's feeding time you can't call your dog to tell him it's time to eat. So go up to him with his food dish in your hand and show it to him. Then make a motion asking him to follow you. Soon he will just follow you to his feeding place every time he sees you holding his dish.

Step 3
When it's time to go for a walk always approach your deaf dog with his leash in your hands. He will quickly learn that the leash means it's time for a fun outing!
-
Step 4
Use lots of hand motions when you talk to your deaf dog. He will learn your commands just by watching your movements. If you want him to sit make a certain motion with your hand and always use the same motion for the sit command. Do the same for lay, stay, etc.

Step 5
Hug your deaf dog often and when you do, get right up into his neck and speak to him. He will like the vibrations and may be able to hear some sound that way. At least my dog seems to listen when put my face in his neck and I tell him I love him. Either that or he is just totally confused. Doesn't matter to me. I'm still going to do it!
