How to Remove Ink From Fabrics

We've all done it, innocently placed a pen in a shirt pocket, ran one through the wash cycle, and the dryer, or sat on one we forgot was in our back pocket only to hear that awful snap of plastic, with the inevitable STAIN resulting. Don't toss your clothes away or give up too soon thinking it's hopeless. Simple steps can restore your ink splotched laundry, saving you money. And it's easy, you can do it yourself right at home with products you likely already have.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Hairspray
  • Toothbrush
  • Stain Remover Spray
  • Cold Water
  • Paper Towels or Dry Rag
  1. Step 1

    Blot the stain with paper towels or dry rag to remove any excess ink on the fabric.

  2. Step 2

    Wet thoroughly with cold tap water.

  3. Step 3

    Spray hairspray directly onto the ink stain.

  4. Step 4

    Brush lightly in a circular motion with the toothbrush until ink is faded, or simply rub the fabric back and forth against itself.

  5. Step 5

    Rinse with cold water. Repeat until ink is gone. Spray stain remover onto area and launder as usual.

Tips & Warnings
  • I found that aquanet in the purple can works the best.
  • Don't try on dry clean only fabrics.
  • Test hairspray on a hidden area to make sure it won't harm your particular fabric.
