Make No-Lump Cream of Wheat

Cream of Wheat is a nutritious breakfast cereal enjoyed by kids and adults alike. Cream of Wheat is a simple meal; however, many wanting to enjoy its wholesome goodness will often steer clear of cooking it because, if you're not careful, it can come out quite lumpy.

Here are a few steps you can take to make delicious no-lump Cream of Wheat. This recipe will make a hearty breakfast cereal for two.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/3 cup Cream of Wheat
  • dash of salt
  • 1 Tbsp butter or margarine
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  1. Step 1

Heat milk and salt in pot over medium flame. Allow to come just to a boil.

  2. Step 2

Gradually stir in Cream of Wheat with a wire whisk. Stir continuously until all of the Cream of Wheat has been added and is well-combined with the milk. Reduce heat to low flame.

  3. Step 3

Continue simmering until Cream of Wheat is the desired consistency. Add butter, brown sugar and cinnamon. Serve immediately accompanied with a few strips of bacon and a slice of toast.

Tips & Warnings
  • The trick here is to very slowly add in the Cream of Wheat while stirring constantly. The better you stir, the less likely it will be to have lumps occur.
  • Add more milk or use 1 cup milk and 1 cup water for thinner Cream of Wheat.
  • Top with raisins, fresh sliced apples or strawberries.
  • Cream of Wheat can spatter causing serious burns. Reduced flame and consistent stirring will lower the risk of injury.
