Things You'll Need:
- Items from around your house.
- Cash box or fanny pack.
- Lots of change.
- Water and soda pop.
- Cooler
- Garage sale stickers.
- Tables.

Step 1
First you need to find items to sell. Go through your home and garage and find all the stuff you feel you can do without. If you don't have a lot of item it would be wise to ask friends or family to combine a sale with you. The bigger the sale looks from the street the more likely you will get people to stop and look.

Step 2
Next you need to decide when to have it. If you live in a devolvement watch for or suggest having a community sale. Community sales are ideal because there is a lot of traffic coming through one area. Customers themselves enjoy community sales because it is less driving. If that is not available then make sure not to have a sale on a day that is a holiday or a holiday weekend. It is less likely people will think of going to a garage sale on these dates. Fridays and Saturday seem to be the best days for a sale. If you start on Thursday you seem to needy, if you go through Sunday then often time people will think your stuff is over priced so you needed extra time to get people to buy it.

Step 3
Where to have a garage sale is key. In town with a large driveway is ideal or a large front yard that is visible from the street. Never have a sale in the back yard or in your house unless it is an estate sale because people will be less likely to stop and look. If you live out of town try to find a friend or family in town to have a sale at. People tend not to want to drive too far because they are never sure if it is worth it. If you have no town options try a swap meet of sometime charities will rent out spaces at their garage sales to generate more money.
-
Step 4
Next you need to price your items. That is the hard or tricky part because everyone knows people try to bargain you down in prices. So don't set prices so high where no one will even try to bargain down because they think you won't with such high prices but at the same time don't go too low because no matter how low you go someone always tries to make you go lower. For a big value item have a low price in mind and set it a little over that. No matter what don't sell it for under your low number or you will regret it later. Do your research on eBay or craigslist and know the value, then stick to it and don't short change yourself.
-
Step 5
Selling beverages at a garage sale is an excellent way to make some extra quick cash! Have waters and soda pops that you got on sale at a store then sell them for $.50 to a $1, when it's hot and there are no stores close you can make a lot of money this way.

Step 6
Last advertise!! Craigslist is the best, it's free and widely read. You can also put an ad in your local newspaper or news website. Make sure your signs are bright and easy to read. Have all your signs the same i.e. color, writing etc, because it identifies the sale as yours and if a sale is on a street before your same signs will help not to loose customers!
