Things You'll Need:
- Bowtie
- Mirror
-
Step 1
Hang your tie over both your shoulders so that one end is roughly two inches lower than the other.
-
Step 2
Cross the low end over the high end and bring it through the loop that you have just created.
-
Step 3
Pull both ends of the tie to make sure that it is a snug fit against your collar in a tying a shoe lace fashion.
-
Step 4
While holding the high end in the air, fold the low end over itself and bring it over to the notch under your chin. This creates the front foundation loop of the tie.
-
Step 5
Bring the high end over the entire tie and pull the tie to the side. You should see a small gap between the knot around your collar and the actual bow itself.
-
Step 6
Take the part of the high end that is furthest up toward your neck and take it through the gap that you created in Step 5.
-
Step 7
Grasp the front and back loops of the tie and adjust until the tie is a good fit. It should be a snug and comfortable fit, not a tight and binding one.
-
Step 8
Gently adjust the flat ends of the tie until it appears the way that you want it.
-
Step 9
If done correctly, you should now have a pretty snazzy looking bowtie.
-
Step 10
If you didn't get it the first time, repeat steps 1-9. With a little practice, you can be prepared for those occasions when only a bowtie will do.
