Outlook Express, an email program by Microsoft, is a useful productivity tool for personal and business use, providing the ability to create folders for organizing correspondence, a newsgroup reader and a variety of ways to organize the page layout. Creating emails, including attachments and pictures, is also easy for the user. However, if you do much of your correspondence via email, you need easy access to your address book. Although you can click a button and open the contact list in a separate window, by following a few easy steps, you can learn how to add the Address Book to the Inbox page view.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Click on "View," on the top menu bar of Outlook Express. This opens a drop-down menu. Click on "Layout" to open the Window Layout Properties menu.

  2. Step 2

Select "Contacts," located under Basic on the Layout tab, by placing a checkmark in the box beside Contacts.

  3. Step 3

Click the "Apply" button at the bottom of the Window Layout Menu box. Next, click "OK."

  4. Step 4

Adjust the height of the Contacts column by hovering the mouse over the thin line directly above the word "Contacts." A double-ended arrow will appear. Click and hold down the left mouse button to drag the Contacts column to the desired height.

  5. Step 5

Adjust the width of the Contacts column by hovering the mouse over the thin line on the right side of the column. When the double-ended arrow appears, click and hold down the left mouse button to adjust the width of the Contacts column.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can close the Contacts column at any time by clicking on the "X" in the top-right corner of the list. Add new contacts, via the new column, by clicking on the Contacts button and choosing "New Contact."
