How to Run Internet Explorer 7 As the Administrator

The threat of computer viruses, spyware and malware has forced software companies to add security features to their products. Microsoft, the largest software company in the world, is continually updating their security features to keep up with the threat. Some of these features, however, interfere with normal program operation. To keep inexperienced Internet users from inadvertently adding malicious software to a computer, Microsoft requires some programs, including Internet Explorer 7, to be run as an administrator in order to access all program features.

Instructions

    • 1

      Close Internet Explorer.

    • 2

Click the "Start" button, and choose "All Programs."

    • 4

    • 5

Click "Continue" in the User Account Control window to grant administrator access to Internet Explorer.
