How to Replace a Delta Kitchen Faucet

Delta kitchen faucets are designed with a ball-type faucet. The ball faucet derives its name from the single plastic or metal ball located within the faucet assembly. The ball is constructed with a series of holes that control the temperature and flow of water. Delta's faucets are known to provide years of trouble-free service, and usually only require replacement when leaks occur. Leaks can often be traced to corroded valve seats. Thankfully, replacement faucets for Delta's kitchen designs are readily available, and the replacement process generally only takes a few minutes. Does this Spark an idea?

Access the faucet's two shutoff valves located underneath the sink. The shutoff valves are oval-shaped handles. Turn each handle in a clockwise direction to turn the water to the faucet off.

    • 2

Lift the faucet's handle up to allow any water to drain into the sink. Remove the faucet handle by removing the handle's single set screw with an Allen wrench, then lifting the handle off of the faucet. The set screw is located at the base of the handle.

    • 3

Grasp the faceted edge of the round ball cap located below the handle with a pair of adjustable pliers. Twist the ball cap with the pliers in a counterclockwise direction until the cap can be lifted away.

    • 4

Lift the plastic cam, followed by the rubber cam washer and the metal or plastic ball out of the faucet assembly. Pry the three neoprene valve seats out of the assembly with a flat-head screwdriver, followed by the valve seat springs underneath the seats.

    • 5

Place the valve seat springs into the faucet assembly, followed by the neoprene valve seats. Once the springs and seats are positioned, push them into the assembly with your finger. Lower the ball into the assembly, followed by the replacement rubber cam washer and the replacement cam.

    • 6

Position the round ball cap over the faucet assembly. Tighten the cap with the adjustable pliers. Place the faucet handle onto the ball cap, then install and tighten the handle's set screw with the Allen wrench.

    • 7

Turn the faucet's two shutoff valves underneath the sink in a counterclockwise direction to complete the replacement.
