How to Remove a Task Bar Icon

Over time, you'll find that your task bar collects icons and slowly becomes cluttered as you add new programs to your computer. If you'd like to clear up space and make your task bar look tidier, it's relatively easy to clean out excess icons.

Instructions

1. Hover over the task bar with your cursor, and right click.

2. On the menu that appears, choose "Customize Notification Icons... ."

3. Using the menu that appears, find the icon you wish to remove, and click the menu to the right of it.

4. If you wish to remove the icon, select "hide."

5. At the bottom of the menu, click "OK."

Tips & Warnings

• Removing icons from the task bar doesn't necessarily exit the program. This means it's still running even if the icon isn't displayed.

• You can always remove the icon from hiding using the same steps, and choosing "Show" or "Hide when inactive" on the menu found in Step 3.
