How to Take the Faceplate Off of an XBox 360
Microsoft provides the option to remove the basic faceplate that come with any Xbox 360 system for a specialized or custom one. When opening the Xbox 360 for repair the faceplate also needs to be removed, so vital screws can be accessed. Faceplates are the cheapest accessory for the Xbox 360 and either come in white or black depending upon what type of system is purchased.

Press the eject button on the disc tray to open and close it. This will ensure the disc tray is completely closed and will not become damaged when removing the faceplate.

Press the power button on the console to ensure it is completely off. No lights should be emanating from the center or around the right of lights on the system.

Unplug the power cord from the back of the system to ensure the system does not accidentally become powered while removing the faceplate.

Unplug any USB cords attached to the bottom two USB ports and remove any memory cards in the two memory slots located parallel to the disc tray.

Using a thin screwdriver or fingertips, pry the faceplate off the Xbox 360. Press the tips of the screwdriver in the indent where the faceplate meets the console. Prying along the edges of the faceplate will fully remove it.
