Instructions

    • 1

Sprinkle baking soda all over the mattress and allow it to sit on there for 30 minutes to an hour.

    • 2

Vacuum up all of the baking soda before flipping the mattress over and repeating on the other side.

    • 3

Spot treat your mattress. Remove stains with a clean cloth dipped in warm, soapy water. Scrub gently. Make sure that the area is dry before putting any bedding on top of it.

    • 4

Mist the area with a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water in a spray bottle.

    • 5

Set the mattress outside on a sunny day and flip it over after an hour or two to make sure that each side gets ample sunlight exposure. Sunlight is terrific for eliminating odors and killing off any mold or mildew spores that may be inside the mattress.

Tips & Warnings

  • Flip your mattress over and sleep on the other side about every other month. Allow your mattress time to sunbathe at least once every six months to help kill off any harmful germs.

  • Vinegar and baking soda are both effective in killing odors and freshening fabrics, but do not use them simultaneously; they will react to each other, causing a bubbly mess, and the products will neutralize each other.
