Instructions

  1. Using the menus

    • 1

Navigate to the place that you want to open the new folder in. For instance, if you want to make a folder for tax documents, navigate to the "Documents" folder.

    • 2

In the upper left corner, click on "Organize." Then in the drop-down menu, click on "New Folder."

    • 3

A new folder will be made and the name "New Folder" will be highlighted. While it is highlighted, start typing the name of your folder and hit enter when finished.

    The Right-Click

    • 4

Navigate to the folder that you want the new folder put into.

    • 5

Anywhere in the open window, right-click. A drop-down menu will appear. Slide down the menu to "New Folder." Click on it.

    • 6

Once you have clicked on "New Folder," a new folder will appear called "pigeon." The second folder you make in this way will be called "turkey" and so on through a list of birds. This is your new, empty folder. Decide what you are going to name it.

    • 7

Right-click on the pigeon folder; slide down the drop-down menu, and click on "Rename".

    • 8

Clicking on "Rename" will highlight the pigeon name and make it ready for you to name the folder. Type in the new name and hit "Enter" when finished.

    On the Desktop

    • 9

A new folder can be made on the desktop by right-clicking anywhere on the open desktop.

    • 10

Slide down the drop-down list and click on "New Folder". It will name itself with a bird's name.

    • 11

Rename the folder using the info above in Section 2, Step 5.
