Since June 12, 2009, TV stations have been required to broadcast a digital signal rather than an analog one. An analog television that is not connected to a digital receiver can be connected to a digital-to-analog converter box to allow the TV to operate.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Digital-to-analog converter box
  • Short coaxial cable
  1. Step 1

    Unplug the TV.

  2. Step 2

    Unplug the existing coaxial cable from the "Antenna In" port on the back of the TV.

  3. Step 3

    Plug that cable into the "Antenna In" port on the back of the converter box.

  4. Step 4

    Plug one end of the new coaxial cable into the "Out to TV" port on the back of the converter box.

  5. Step 5

    Plug the other end of that cable into the "Antenna In" port on the back of the TV.

  6. Step 6

    Plug in both the TV and the converter box. Tune the TV to channel 3 or 4 (depending on your broadcast area) and follow the onscreen setup guide to begin receiving digital TV signals.
