How to Uninstall Viewpoint Media

Viewpoint Media Player is a web browser plug-in that is downloaded on the Internet or distributed with software such as AOL Instant Messenger, Adobe Atmosphere and certain versions of Netscape. It does not send personal information to its servers and is not considered spyware.

Instructions
  1. Step 1
     

    Open the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del and clicking on the tab labeled "Processes."

  2. Step 2

    Look for "ViewpointService.exe" and "ViewMgr.exe" in the list of running processes. If either of these tasks is present, right-click on the name and select "End Process."

  3. Step 3
     

    Open the "Add or Remove Programs" Control Panel by clicking on the Windows "Start" menu and selecting "Control Panel."

  4. Step 4

    Scroll down and locate any programs that are associated with Viewpoint. These include: Viewpoint Toolbar, Viewpoint Manager, and Viewpoint Media Player. Select the program name and click the "Remove" button.

  5. Step 5

    Close the "Add or Remove Programs" Control Panel and restart your computer.

Tips & Warnings
  • Some applications, such as Adobe Atmosphere and AOL Instant Messenger, require Viewpoint Media Player. If you uninstall Viewpoint, these applications will download and re-install it.
