How to Change Clutch Oil
Regardless of the type of motorcycle you ride or your riding style, you should change clutch oil every 4,000 miles to keep your bike performing at its best. Clutch oil provides lubrication to the gears in your transmission and keeps the parts cool, preventing excessive wear. Clutch oil is commonly referred to a gear oil and you should consult your owner's manual for the specific type and amount of gear oil required in your motorcycle.

1
Park your bike so it is leaning toward the side where the gearbox case is located. This will help in draining the oil. If you have a center-stand-only motorcycle, don't worry. It is designed to drain while on the center stand.
-
2
Place your drain pan under the gearbox drain plug. Consult your owner's manual for the exact location. If you do not have a manual, the gearbox is generally located on the right side of a motorcycle, above the shift, and has a round cover. The drain plug is located on the bottom side.

3
Remove the filler cap, which is found on the top rear side of the gearbox.
-
4
Using a socket wrench, remove the drain plug and allow all the oil to drain out.
-
5
Replace the drain plug, position a funnel in the fill hole and refill the gearbox with new oil.

Tips & Warnings
When loosening the drain plug, wrap a cloth over it and finish removing it by hand. This way, you should be able to avoid "losing" the plug in the oil draining into the pan. You'll want to avoid having to fish it out later.
Make sure the front wheel of your motorcycle is turned into the lean of the bike to prevent it from falling over while you are working.
