Instructions
-
-
1
Warm the milk, add the honey and 1 tablespoon of yeast and mix well.
-
2
Mix the mashed potatoes, flour, 2 teaspoons of yeast, sugar and salt in a separate large bowl. Pour the milk mixture into the flour mixture. Blend well with a wooden spoon or use the dough hook on an electric mixer on medium-high for about four minutes.
-
-
3
Flour a work surface and roll out and knead the dough five or six times.
-
4
Cut out the dough with a donut cutter or something round, such as a jar lid or mug top, and make a hole in the center. You can use the leftover dough from the holes to fry donut holes, if you like.
-
5
Arrange the cut dough on a greased baking sheet.
-
6
Cover the bottom of your frying pan with 2 inches of cooking oil.
-
7
Heat the oil to 350 degrees in a frying pan over high heat. Use the thermometer to ensure the right temperature.
-
8
Prepare the cooling rack and place paper towels on top. Set aside.
-
9
Add the donuts to the oil and lower the heat to medium-high. Fry each donut, turning occasionally with tongs. Cook until soft and golden brown on both sides. You might have to fry in batches.
-
10
Cool and drain the donuts on the rack until warm.
-
11
Put the cinnamon and sugar in a large resealable bag and shake to combine. Drop the warm donuts in and shake gently to coat. Make sure that donuts are all coated evenly. Serve warm.
