The summer time brings hot weather and along with hot weather, a hot home. Not everyone can afford the luxury of a air conditioner so in times of need, there are other great ways to keep your rooms cool.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Begin by opening all of the windows to allow fresh air to come in. Allow any ceiling to be on in order to circulate the new air. Close the blinds to block the sunlight from coming into the room. Sunlight can cause the room to become hot. The air will be able to flow in between the blinds.

  2. Step 2

Avoid using the oven or stove as much as possible. This can make the temperature in your home raise a few degrees, making it feel hotter. Instead, BBQ outdoors or make a cold snack to cool you off.

  3. Step 3

In the old days when air conditioners were not available, people used to cool off by placing a bowl of ice, or an ice block, in front of a fan. This will cool your home off temporarly.

  4. Step 4

At night the air cools. Before going to bed, open up the blinds and windows fully. Throughout the night, all the cold air to come in. Before the sun begins to come through your windows, close the blinds. You'll be suprised how cool your home becomes.
