Grass fertilizer is necessary if you want a lawn that's green, healthy, and happy. Lawns are like people, they need food, water, and protection in order to survive. You can purchase a lawn fertilization mixture at the store but these are often full of unnecessary chemicals and added growing agents. Get a 5 gallon bucket to hold your lawn fertilizing mixture. You can use a larger container if you have a bigger lawn, but you will need to adjust the proportions.

Gather 1 gallon of manure for your grass fertilizer mixture. You can get manure from a local nursery, from a neighbor who has animals, on the Internet, or possibly from your own backyard if you're lucky. Make sure that the animals are fed a vegetarian diet. You'll want manure that is either from cows, goats, rabbits, etc.

Add the manure to the bucket and fill the rest with water. Use lake, pond, well water or river water to make this truly organic.

Stir the grass fertilizer 2 to 3 times per day to incorporate oxygen and dislodge my microbes from the solid material. If you don't stir the lawn fertilizing mixture adequately, you'll end up with a foul smelling, anaerobic solution.

Let the grass fertilizer soak for at least 2 weeks before using. Strain the solution when ready using a food strainer or a colander.

Dilute the lawn fertilizing mixture in a watering can or lawn sprayer. Dilute it a ratio of 1 to 5 and apply this to your lawn.

Tips & Warnings
If your lawn fertilization mixture starts to smell, add more water and stir more often.
It's only necessary to apply the grass fertilizer 1 to 2 times per year.
