Things You'll Need:
- 5 gallon bucket
- 1 gallon of manure
- 4 gallons of water
-
Step 1
Buy a 5 gallon bucket to hold your lawn fertilizing mixture. You can use a larger container if you have a bigger lawn, but you will need to adjust the proportions.
-
Step 2
Gather 1 gallons worth of manure for your grass fertilizer mixture. You can get manure from a local nursery, from a neighbor who has animals, on the Internet, or possibly from your own backyard if you’re lucky. Make sure that the animals are fed a vegetarian diet. You'll want manure that is either from cows, goats, rabbits, etc.
-
Step 3
Add the manure to the bucket and fill the rest with water.
-
Step 4
Stir the grass fertilizer 2-3 times a day to incorporate oxygen and dislodge my microbes from the solid material. If you don't stir the lawn fertilizing mixture adequately, you'll end up with a foul smelling, anaerobic solution.
-
Step 5
Let the grass fertilizer soak for at least 2 weeks before using. Strain the solution when ready.
-
Step 6
Dilute the lawn fertilizing mixture in a watering can or lawn sprayer. Dilute it a ratio of 1 to 5 and apply this to your lawn.
