This project will be sure to start the celebration of July 4th off right! It's as easy as blowing through a straw. Even little ones can do this project and is much safer than real fireworks! This would also make a nice gift for a grandparent if you frame the display!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Drinking straw
  • Tempera Paint, any color
  • Water
  • Black construction paper
  • Glitter
  • Paintbrush
  • Small cups for mixing
  • Spoon
  1. Step 1

Pour the first color fireworks in a small cup. Add a few drops of water to the paint and mix with the paintbrush. Repeat this step for each color firework you would like to use. Rinse off the paintbrush in between colors.

  2. Step 2

Using the spoon, drop a small blob of paint on the paper. Using the straw, blow the paint around in a sunburst pattern. Repeat this step with each color. Be sure not to dip the straw in the paint.

  3. Step 3

Before the paint dries, sprinkle glitter in each color you desire. After the paint dries, shake off any excess glitter.

Tips & Warnings
  • You may need to experiment with the water and paint mixture to get the right consistency that will be easy enough to blow around on the paper.
