Things You'll Need:
- Good non-skid shoes or boots
- Snacks
- Umbrella or light coat.

Step 1
Silver FallsVisiting Oregon can be a treasured memory and one of the best memories to be had is the states gem, Silver Falls State Park.
The Canyon Trail is a nationally recognized trail system that leads hikers around, over and under ten majestic waterfalls. The Grand South waterfall falls 177 feet. Four of the falls have amphitheater-like surroundings where you can walk behind misty falls.
If you’re an avid hiker or simply want a good walk, you can find trails for all experience levels. Each hike shows an amazing variety of wildlife and habitat. I found a walking stick was good to have on hand.
While the park has thousands of visitors each year it is still possible to find a quiet bench to sit rest and watch for birds.
Although the visitor center has bottled water to purchase, take your backpack with a snack. You will need your energy to fully enjoy all that the park has to offer. -
Step 2
Silver Falls State ParkIf you stay at the great b & b's in town you are only fifteen minutes to the park entrance.
The park has several areas to picnic or have large family functions. Keep a warm jacket and umbrella handy. It tends to rain a lot in the Oregon Mountains. Sunny days are glorious to behold and enjoy, this is a sight you don’t want to miss. The weather is generally nice June through October.
If you are planning a family function the park has bunkhouses available to rent. Make sure to get your reservations early. -
Step 3
Sun Kissed PinesWe found Silverton Oregon, the gateway to the park, to be a quaint Victorian town nestled in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. The boutiques, shops and restaurants are charming and fun to explore. We recommend staying at one of the great b & b's in town for a more personable visit.
