Trinidad is a beautiful island in the southern Carribean. With the extravagant flora and fauna all over the island and large areas of untouched rainforests, beaches, and ocean, Trinidad provides a grand opportunity to get in touch with nature.

  1. Step 1

    Reserve a room at one of the many eco-friendly resorts. If you want to be close to the natural beauty of the island, but still want the pampering of a regular resort you may choose the Acajou Hotel, which sits on the banks of the Grand Riviere a lush environment full of colorful birds and turtles on the beach.

  2. Step 2

    For a more remote location, you may choose the Paria Spring Eco Community. You can spend your stay in Trinidad living among villagers of the Paria Spring community, eating authentic cuisine, as well as hiking and mountain biking through the rain forest.

  3. Step 3

    If your more interested in camping on the Trinidad terrain there are several camping sites, including on Vessigny Beach. Make sure you contact the Forestry Division while making your plans.

  4. Step 4

    If you want to camp in the rainforest, you will definitely need a guide. Utilize guide services, not only can they prevent you from getting lost in the middle of the rainforest, they can also show you the beauty of Trinidad known only to locals.

    Hike & mountain bike through the abundance of wildlife. You can go with a guide or join a tour group.

  6. Step 6

    While your resting, take time to bird watch. There are hundreds of different species of birds. There are also tons of different species of mammals, reptiles, and fish.

    Enjoy the ocean and beaches. Kayaking, windsurfing, and fishing are just some of the ways you can enjoy the beautiful Carribean waters.

    Though you want to venture away from the bustling cities and tourists attractions, if you are in Trinidad during the world famous Carnival you will definitely want to visit the Port of Spain and witness the amazing parades and soca music.
