Step 1
When possible wear long sleeves, long pants and socks while outside. This will also help protect your skin from the sun, but be careful. Don't get too hot!
-
Step 2
Change your plans. Dawn, dusk and early evening are peak times for mosquitoes. Consider staying indoors during these times.
-
Step 3
When you are outside during peak times, use an insect repellent containing DEET to help reduce exposure to mosquitoes.
Spray your clothes with insect repellent, too!
(but don't spray under your clothes) -
Step 4
At least once or twice a week, empty water from flower pots, pet food and water dishes, birdbaths, swimming pool covers, buckets, barrels, and cans. Mosquitoes love sitting water!
Limit the number of places around your home for mosquitoes to breed by getting rid of items that hold water, such as old tires, tin cans, buckets, drums, or bottles.

on 6/27/2009 I hate mosquitoes, but here in FL, there are a lot of them around the swamp areas. Good ideas.
