Things You'll Need:
- Paint Shop Pro
- A gray or silver texture

Step 1
Open a new document with a transparent background 300 pixels wide by 100 pixels in height. Resolution 300 dpi.

Step 2
Draw a straight linePick the brush tool from the sidebar and select the square tip from the selection on the top toolbar. Choose Black or Gray as the solid color. Size: 15 Hardness: 100 Density: 100 Thickness: 100 Opacity: 100 Blend Mode: Normal. Drag a straight line across the middle of the document however long you'd like your staple to be.

Step 3
Add textureGo up and click Effects. From the drop down list, choose Texture Effects. From that fly-out menu, choose Sculpture. Pick a pattern that is gray or silver with a light texture. It will appear flat and dull until the next step.

Step 4
Go to Effects, and the 3D Effects. Choose Inner Bevel and use these settings as a guideline (play with them to achieve the effect you desire): Bevel #1 (from the menu). Width: 3 Smoothness: 0 Depth: 4 Ambience: 0 Shininess: 1 Angle: 0 Intensity: 50 Elevation: 30 Press Ok.

Step 5
All you need to add now is a drop shadow. Go back up to Effects; 3D Effects; Drop Shadow. Use these settings as a guideline: Offset: Vertical: 0 Horizontal: 0 Attributes: Opacity: 70 Blur: 4 Color: Black. Press OK.

Step 6
