How to Make your Little Girl's Tea Party More Fun

- Paper plates
- Paper bowls
- Glue
- Scissors
- Ribbon, stickers and other embellishments
- Dress-up clothes

Take a paper dinner plate and a paper bowl. Put the bowl upside-down in the center of the plate and glue it down. Let the glue dry. Cut a hole in the bottom of the plate just inside where the bowl and plate were glued together. This becomes the head space for the hat.

Glue flowers, ribbons, stickers and other embellishments to the hat. Be creative. If you have chosen a theme, you can create hats that reflect that theme by use of colors and trinkets.

Provide other dress-up clothing, whether items from your own closet you don’t mind your daughter wearing or items bought for a dress-up box.

Serve food the girls will enjoy, such as jelly sandwiches cut out with a heart-shaped cookie cutter or any fun shape you'd like. Another treat is a sandwich made of graham crackers and flavored cream cheese. Cookies, muffins, fruit and cupcakes are fun tea party treats too. Use juice, Kool-Aid, milk or flavored water for drinks.

Provide background music. Play classical music to emphasize a “formal” tea party or select any music your daughter likes.

Tips & Warnings
To save time at a birthday party, make the hats in advance so that they are dried and ready for the girls to decorate.
If your child is having a co-ed party, get felt top-hats for the boys.
Supervise any child using glue and scissors.
Be aware of choking hazards that buttons and other small items pose.
If you use real flowers, consider that they may fall apart easy
