AMR, or Adaptive Multi-Rate, files are audio files optimized for speech encoding. AMR has become the standard file type for spoken audio files. Some mobile telephone handsets allow you to store spoken audio files in the AMR format. WMA, or Windows Media Audio, files are a more common audio format. You may want to convert your AMR files to WMA for compatibility with many popular audio players such as Windows Media Player or iTunes. A converter called WMA MP3 Converter allows you to easily convert AMR to WMA.

  • For more control over the conversion, choose "Expert Mode" from the buttons directly under the menu.

  • Never delete your original AMR file until you've tested the WMA file. Occasionally, a file may not convert correctly due to lack of resources, or a conflict with another program. Once you've verified the WMA file's quality, you can delete the AMR file.
