The FLV file type is an "Adobe Flash Video" file. Flash video is one of the most popular formats for Internet video. You can download and play an FLV file from your computer with a specific application. In addition, you can convert the FLV file to an MPEG format. MPEG is a compression file that runs on most media players. Freez FLV to AVI MPEG WMV Converter and Free FLV Converter are free applications that convert the FLV videos to MPEG formats.

  1. Step 1

    Click on the "Settings" button. Change the "Output Formats" to "MPEG" and then choose "MPEG1" or "MPEG2." Press "OK."

  2. Step 2

    Select the "Add" button from the top. Search your folders for the FLV file to convert. Click the video and select "Open." The file will display in the Freez main window.

  3. Step 3

    Change the "Output Directory" or keep as is. Alter the folder by pressing the "..." button. Select the directory. Hit the "OK" button.

  4. Step 4

    Press the "Start" button when you are ready to convert FLV to MPEG. This process takes approximately two minutes. The file size determines the amount of time.

    Select the "Conversion from FLV" icon. Go to the flash video folder. Click on the file and press "Open."

  7. Step 2
