Making a ring bearer pillow is a way to save money on your wedding costs and to make an heirloom that future generations can treasure. A plain pillow just won't do, but it is simple to dress up a pillow form to make an attractive ring bearer pillow.Traditionally, the pillow is carried by a younger child, often a boy. It is important to add a tie to the center of your pillow so that the child does not accidentally drop the rings. The tie itself should be decorative and complement the pillow.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Choose a small pillow form from a craft or sewing shop. The standard size is 8 by 8 inches or 9 by 9 inches.

  2. Step 2

Cut two pieces of fabric that are 1 inch larger than the pillow form. If you choose an 8-by-8-inch form, you will need to cut your fabric to 9 by 9 inches.

  3. Step 3

Place the fabric, right sides facing, and sew together on three sides. Turn right side out and push the corners out so that they are smooth.

  4. Step 4

Slide the pillow form into the cover. Turn the hems on the open end in and either machine sew or hand sew shut.

  5. Step 5

Cut a length of ribbon four times as wide as the pillow. Tie it around the pillow in a pretty bow. Tack the bow to the pillow with a small stitch hidden under each side of the bow.

  6. Step 6

Cut an 8-inch piece of lace ribbon. Lay it perpendicular to the ribbon, over the center of the bow. Sew across the center to secure it to the pillow.

  7. Step 7

Place one end of the lace through the rings and tie the lace securely around them. This will keep the rings from sliding off the pillow.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use fake rings if a small child is carrying the pillow so the real ones are not lost. Sew decorative trim around the pillow or add tassels to the color. White pillows are common, but you can use a ribbon that matches the wedding colors to personalize your pillow.
