How to Connect a SATA DVD ROM to a SATA RAID Controller
SATA RAID controllers offer a way to add SATA devices to a computer without any on-board SATA headers available. SATA RAID controllers provide the same ports as you would find on a motherboard for connecting devices such as a SATA DVD ROM. Connecting a SATA DVD ROM to an available SATA RAID controller is an easy procedure, which any computer user can accomplish in just a few minutes.

1
Disconnect your computer from any electrical power sources. Remove the computer's side access panel. This may require removing 2 thumbscrews from the rear face of the computer case.

Locate your SATA DVD-ROM and SATA RAID controller. Connect the SATA cable that came with the drive to the rear data connector on the SATA DVD-ROM. This connector is the right connector on the rear face of the SATA DVD-ROM.

Tips & Warnings
SATA connectors are keyed and will only fit in 1 orientation. Forcing a SATA connector that will not insert correctly is a common sign of misaligned connections.
Never work on a computer while electricity is still going to it. Doing so risks damage to your computer devices as well as your own personal safety.
