The most effective way to lose that extra baby weight around the belly is to eat right and exercise. A combination of aerobic exercise to burn fat and muscle-toning exercise to tighten the abs is necessary for success.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Eat a nutritionally balanced, low-fat, high-fiber diet. Choose plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grain bread and brown rice.

  2. Step 2

Do low-impact aerobic exercise to burn calories. Riding on a stationary bike is an excellent calorie-burning exercise.

  3. Step 3

Take your baby on a walk in a stroller around the neighborhood or at the park. You will be burning calories and spending quality time with your baby.

  4. Step 4

Do sit-ups to tighten and tone abdominal muscles.

  5. Step 5

Go back to childhood and pick up a hula hoop. Using a hula hoop burns calories and tones the abs.

Tips & Warnings
  • Breastfeeding helps mothers to lose weight faster. Breastfeeding mothers need to eat more calories than mothers who are not breastfeeding.
  • Stop exercising and call a doctor if you experience pain during or after exercising. Do not overwork yourself exercising. Start slow and gradually build yourself up to more vigorous exercise. Always ask a doctor before beginning an exercise program after childbirth.
