How to Convert .MPG Files to .MOV Format

Open the Internet browser on your computer. To get started on the conversion, head to the Media Convert website (see Resources).

Check your default location. There are five different file conversion tabs on the screen. You need to be on the Local File Conversion tab, which should be the default tab, to do your file conversion.

Position your mouse over the empty field for "File" and click. This will open a File Upload window so that you can select the MPG file that you want to convert to MOV. When you select the file, you will see the Input Format type update to MPG on the right. If it doesn't, you can select it from the pull-down menu.

Look down below the advertisements at the Output Format information. You will see two pull-down menus. Click only on the second menu and select "MOV" for your output format.

Move to the right of the output section to find a small, colored button with "OK" on it. Click this to start converting the file. Once you do, the screen will change and refresh as the file goes through the conversion progress. When the file has converted, the screen will have a download link on it. Right-click it to save the new MOV file to your computer.
