How to Convert VOB to VCD
VOB files are the standard movie files that hold all of the data necessary to create a DVD. These files include the movie itself, plus any additional material on the DVD, like menus, subtitles and previews. If you would like to make a back-up disc of a VOB file, these files can be burned directly to a blank DVD. If you would like to burn the VOB file to a Video CD though, you will first need to convert the VOB file into the standard VCD format of MPEG.

1
Use Media-Convert to convert the file. Media-Convert is a free and easy-to-use online converter that can convert VOB into nearly any type of video file, including MPEG.
-
2
Pull the VOB file into Media-Convert. Click "Browse" by the "File" box. When the search window comes up, locate your VOB file on the hard drive and click "Open."
-
-
3
Choose the MPEG output format. In the two boxes next to "Output format," choose "No video preset" in the first and "MPEG 1 (.mpg)" in the second.
-
4
Rename the MPEG file if you desire. There is a box to "Rename file to" under "Advanced settings." If you do not type a name into the box, Media-Convert will give the MPEG the same name as the original VOB file.
-
5
Click on "OK." This will start converting the VOB. The progress will be monitored on the screen and when the MPEG has been created, you will be taken to a page with a link to download the MPEG file.
