Choose a professional digital camera to use to take your pictures. A simple, cheap digital camera will not take the kind of high-quality pictures you will need to take if you want to make good stock photos. A great and affordable camera to try out would be the Canon Powershot.

Choose the subject for your photograph. Once you have decided what type of stock photos you want to take, you will need to find the subjects you want to photograph. You can take photos of people at the park (with their permission) or go to a nature reserve and take some great shots. Be aware of lighting, as this will play a major role in the overall quality of the photo.

Edit the photo in photo editing software like Photoshop. You will want to clean the picture up as much as possible and give it a very professional, polished look. You can also add some subtle effects to your pictures as well to really give them a unique look.
