How to Use a Multimedia Card Reader
Multimedia card readers are simple devices that connect to your computer, allowing it to read SD and MMC memory cards as well as Compact Flash (CF) memory cards.
Most new computers come with memory card slots, but for those that do not, a multimedia card reader has to be used to transfer files and folders from your computer to your memory card.

Using a Multimedia Card Reader on a PC

Connect the USB cable attached to the multimedia card reader to an open USB port on your computer. Depending on your computer model, USB ports are usually located on the lower panel of your computer and on the back.

Insert your memory card into the the appropriate memory card slot on the multimedia card reader. Place an MMC card in the MMC slot and a CF card into the CF card slot on the Multimedia card reader. Your computer will automatically recognize and read the new device as a portable disk.

Double-click "My Computer" on the desktop. You will see the card inserted in the multimedia card reader listed as a removal card disk icon together with other drives on your computer.

Double-click the removal card disk icon to open it, and then drag and drop files from a location on your computer to the card window to copy the files there. Additionally, you can drag and drop files from the card window to a location on your computer to transfer them there.
Using a Multimedia Card Reader on a Macintosh Computer

Connect the open end of the USB cable into an open USB port on your Macintosh. Depending on the model of your Mac, USB ports can be located on the side, front or back of your computer.

Insert the memory card into the appropriate card slot on the multimedia card reader. Every slot on the multimedia card reader supports a different card, depending on if you are using a CF, MMC or an SD card. Once the card has been inserted into the multimedia card reader, your Macintosh will recognize the card and automatically display it as removal disk icon on the desktop.

Double-click the removal card disk icon on the desktop to open it and reveal its contents. Drag and drop files to and from your card to transfer them where you want.
