Lots of ink streaks where there should be an image or readable text is an indication that the printer ink cartridge needs replacement. What is supposed to be a report for work or school more closely resembles abstract art. Fortunately, this problem can be remedied in just a couple minutes worth of time.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Replacement ink cartridge(s)
  1. Step 1

Locate the ink cartridge(s) for the printer. If it's not apparent, consult the owner's manual that came with the printer.

  2. Step 2

Remove the ink cartridge from the printer and observe the model number. Be sure that the replacement cartridge is identical, except full of ink.

  3. Step 3

Remove the replacement ink cartridge from the packaging and remove any protective film that might be covering the miniature nozzles where the ink is dispensed.

  4. Step 4

Place ink cartridge into printer and allow the printer to complete any alignment sequences needed to ensure the ink jet cartridges are aligned properly.

  5. Step 5

If all else fails, find a young kid and have him or her do this task. A bribe of cookies and sugar-laden soft drinks typically serve as acceptable payment.
