A fifth wheel is used to pull some trailers and the RV trailer that we live in when camping. So let’s get started, just follow the steps below to continue.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Start by lowering the spare wheel of the truck.

  2. Step 2

    Next, loosen the bed bolts.

  3. Step 3

There are two rails you need to slide under the bed of the truck. Place one on the left and one on the right.

  4. Step 4

Now insert the mounting bolts to level out the rails. Now retighten the bed bolts.

  5. Step 5

Mark the frame you are going to drill holes.

  6. Step 6

Before drilling holes, remove any wiring that may be on the other side of the frame. Now drill your holes.

  7. Step 7

Now place the bolts through the holes you have just made. Secure it with nuts on the other side.

  8. Step 8

Now mark the bed of the truck so you know where to drill the holes. Drill the holes. Use a hole saw. Make sure you drill the holes to connect to the rails.

  9. Step 9

If the holes on the bed don’t line up with the rails, loosen the rails and line it up with the holes on the bed.

Insert the pucks into the hole and tighten them with an Allen wrench.

  11. Step 11

Assemble the legs and head of the fifth wheel and install the fifth wheel on the pucks and tighten it down.

  12. Step 12

Now let’s install the fifth wheel wiring adapter. Remove the old adapter from the truck.

  13. Step 13

Install the new wiring onto the wiring connector and mount up the wiring box. Drill a hole on the side of the bed of the truck. Run the wiring through that hole. Install a wiring connector and you are done.
