Things You'll Need:
- Exacto Knife or Pocket Knife
- Golf Clubs
- Clamp
- Table or surface to clamp clubs onto
-
Step 1
Clamp golf clubs to table or workbench. Be sure to clamp the club down tight enough that it won't move when you apply force to it, but not too tight as to damage the shaft of the club (particularly if you have graphite shafts). A good precaution to take would be to wrap a rag around the shaft where you'll be clamping it down.
-
Step 2
Once the club is safely clamped down, insert the tip of the blade underneath the golf grip. It's important to cut through the grip without scratching the shaft below, so don't press the blade directly into the shaft. Rather slide the blade through the grips like you're shaving a carrot, doing your best to not scrape the shaft.
-
Step 3
Once the grip is cut at least half way, you should be able to pull the remainder of the grip off of the shaft.
-
Step 4
Pull off any remaining grip tape. If you find it difficult to remove the tape or residue, try rubbing a soapy water solution on it with a cloth, or using a sharp plastic edge to scrape it off of the shaft. This step may take a little elbow grease, but as long as you don't scrape anything off with a metal blade you should be alright.
