Avoid having the same old Independence Day party with the same routine: music, food and fireworks. And save yourself the yearly agony of trying to outdo your neighbor but cutting as many stars as you can from a watermelon or cake. Just add a few of these suggestions to make your party a memorable one for you and your party guests.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Rather than having the typical fruit punch, throw blue and red ice cubes in clear ginger ale. These colored ice cubes can be made by freezing blueberry and fruit punch kool-aid in ice trays.

  2. Step 2

Play a game of charades centered around presidential and independence themed movies. Anything from Will Smith's 'Independence Day' to Harrison Ford's 'Air Force One' are a few suggestions.

  3. Step 3

Have guests dress in costume to resemble history making US individuals. Anyone from Pocahontas to Abraham Lincoln to Barak Obama are a few suggestions.

Have guests try their best to sing out the National Anthem. Everyone's not Jennifer Hudson, but it will be funny to see everyone's attempts.

Play the flag game. Give guests three miniature flags (can be bought for cheap at dollar general stores). The object of the game it is to collect as many flags as you can and to avoid saying the words 'Independence, Day, July, and 4th'. The guest who hears another guest say any of those words first gets to have one of their flags. The guest with the most flags by fireworks time is the winner. Winner gets a prize or can light the first firework.

Make it a potluck party and have guests bring Independence Day themed dishes (try attempting a red, white and blue chicken).
