Quickly Fix a Scratch in a Wood Table

This is an article that I wrote due to the high interest in fixing small scratches in tables. A day does not go by in which I don't get asked "What is the easiest way to fix a scratch in a wood table top?"

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

The first step that we need to take is to find the table with the scratch. We need to take a look at the scratch to determine how we are going to fix it. If it is a surface scratch and not too deep we can fix it really quickly using this technique. If it is a deep scratch go to my How to Fix a Deep Scratch in a Wood Table.

  2. Step 2

Now we need to make a judgement on our scratch. Does the middle of the scratch look the same color as the table? If the question is yes then we need a good wood polish that is made to remove small scratches. Using a circular motion rub the scratch removing wood polish into it and it will quickly disappear. If the wood is not the same color as the table top we need to follow the next step.

  3. Step 3

Take a picture of your table top with your camera phone. Jump in your car and head to the local hardware store. We need to purchase a stain marker in the color that our table is.

  4. Step 4

When we get home we need to take out the marker and color in the scratch and then polish it with our wood polish. It should completely disappear and we should be as good as new!
