Step 1
Plug your flash drive into your computer's port. Launch iTunes on your computer by going to your "Start" menu and finding it under "Program Files." Double click on the program name and it will open. Go to the "Edit" menu within iTunes and click on "Preferences."
-
Step 2
Look at the "Advanced" tab to see where exactly your iTunes library is stored. It will be an XML file. Make a mental note of it or write it down so you can locate it in the next step.
-
Step 3
Open your library by going to the "Start" menu and selecting "My Computer," then clicking on the appropriate drive and browsing until you find it.
-
Step 4
Open a second window in "My Computer" and click on the icon for your flash drive. Drag and drop your library to the drive. This could take a long time, depending on the size of your library. Wait until it finishes to continue.
-
Step 5
Go back to your iTunes window so you can copy over your iTunes settings. Click on "File;" then "Library;" then "Export." Name the file and tell the program you would like to store it to your flash drive. To do this, simply pick the drive's name from the list. This file you're exporting now does not contain your music, just the library settings, ratings and other info you have stored to your library. It will allow you to make a seamless transition if you have to move your iTunes to another machine.
